Bringing the Person-Centred counselling approach to the therapeutic use of art.
I have a certificate in Person Centred Art Therapy Skills. If you are interested in this way of working I will be happy to include it in your sessions. It is a really good way of working particularly if you are not sure what you are feeling or are finding it hard to voice how you are feeling at any given point.
Expressing our thoughts or feelings as an image on paper can be a very quick way of accessing and exploring hidden or painful feelings. You do not need to have any special skills or be good at art or drawing.
Art counselling is a way of keeping us away from 'thinking' processes.
Paradoxically, by thinking less, it is possible to know more. Newfound knowledge can then be the key to change or healing taking place.
