About Counselling

No matter how big or how small a problem may be, it often helps to have someone to talk to. Sometimes it can be easier to talk to a stranger rather than to friends or relatives.  Counselling can offer you a relationship where you have someone to talk to who you can trust, who will not make judgements, and who will try to understand your feelings and experience.

Counselling provides an opportunity to explore your world and to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way.  It offers a way for you to help you make your own decisions without anyone telling you what to do, a chance for you to learn about yourself, which can, in turn, help you move on in your life.

Counselling is for all types of people, from all walks of life, regardless of age, sex, social class, sexual orientation, ethnic group or disability.

Research shows that it is the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor that effects the most client change. I am happy to have a chat with you before you decide if you would like to arrange an initial visit.

The initial appointment is free of charge to you and is an opportunity for you to have questions answered and expectations explored, allowing us both to decide if we feel comfortable to work together and to discover if the therapy I offer is best suited to your needs.

Sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually, although not always, on a weekly basis.
